My fundraising career began nearly 20 years ago at a domestic violence shelter. We were small and scrappy, and we raised a lot of money for a cause close to my heart. But we could have raised even more if we had used our data to its fullest potential.

I didn't truly understand the power of data until I worked in higher education fundraising, where my career became focused on donor data management. It was exciting to learn about this world, and frustrating that it had taken so long for me to learn about simple yet powerful tools for raising money more effectively.
